To ensure their team was fully prepared, we delivered a specialized Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course tailored specifically to the realities of managing a busy golf course.
The Challenge: Distance and Diverse Risks
Managing medical emergencies on a golf course requires rapid coordination over vast distances. During our initial consultation, we identified the venue's key risks:
Remote Locations: If a player collapses on a distant fairway, staff must manage the situation while coordinating an ambulance extraction.
Mixed Demographics: Staff need to handle everything from sudden cardiac arrest in older members to heat-related illnesses in younger players.
Physical Trauma: Outdoor environments carry risks of slips, falls, and head injuries from stray golf balls.
The Solution: Golf-Specific Training
We built the curriculum around practical, hands-on simulations using the club's actual terrain and equipment. Training scenarios included:
Remote Cardiac Arrest: Staff practiced immediate CPR and learned how to quickly deploy a portable Automated External Defibrillator (AED) via golf buggy.
Trauma Response: Treating severe bleeds, concussions, and disorientation caused by stray ball impacts.
Environmental Illnesses: Recognizing and treating heat stroke during humid summer days or hypothermia during winter maintenance.
